Strings : the immutable mutiny

Most of you here might have heard about strings and for those of you who haven't, the picture above has nothing to do with strings. Every programming language consists of a character set. A character set will have alphabets, numbers and special characters. A finite sequence of zero or more characters from the character set is called a string.

A string is generally considered a data type and is often implemented as an array data structure of bytes (or words) that stores a sequence of elements, typically characters, using some character encoding.
